All of the therapies I use treat you as an individual - there will be at least one therapy to suit your personal needs and each therapy can also be dovetailed with another to intensify its work.

Homeopathy...

Homeopathy sees symptoms as not those of a disease but of the body’s response to an invading illness. For example if a flu type virus gets to the back of the nose and throat your body produces a profuse discharge in order to flush it out. Therefore, a runny nose is not a symptom of the disease but the body’s response to get rid of the invading virus. Instead of attempting to suppress the body’s response to an illness, a homoeopathic remedy will assist the body to carry out the task more quickly.

What to expect on your first visit?...

The homoeopathic remedy does not aim to remove only the symptoms that you have been suffering from. (Remember the symptoms are your body`s response to the underlying malaise in its attempt to restore the balance.) It provides stimulus to your body`s own healing mechanism which removes all underlying causes that are at the root of any illness.

In order to do this, during your first visit, I will need to know all about you as a patient. You will be asked many questions about your illness, about the health of your family and your family history. You may think that some of the questions do not seem to have any relation to your present complaint. However the more I know about you as an individual, the easier it is to select the precise remedy.

The questions asked include your likes and dislikes, your response to weather and temperature; emotions such as anger, envy and reaction to pain, etc.. It is these aspects of your personality that make you unique and not the more general elements that may be common to many other people.

After careful consideration, you will be prescribed a remedy, usually in the form of pills, which are non-toxic and non-habit forming.

Its gentle and non-invasive nature means that homeopathy is suitable for anyone: babies, elderly, pregnant women looking for a safe alternative; it is useful for children's health such as earaches, asthma, eczema, sleep or emotional problems. Emotional states such as grief, trauma, depression or anxiety can sometimes manifest themselves as physical symptoms which means they are still stuck in that past grief or trauma. Homeopathy can help shift those states to enable the patient to move on.

I am often asked about vaccinations and as homeopaths we believe that people should choose to have a vaccination or not, but from an informed perspective. We do not judge a parent who does choose to have the recommended medical vaccinations. Websites to look at include www.informedparent.co.uk and 'What Doctors Don't Tell You' - wddty.co.uk.

Reiki...

Reiki, pronounced Ray-kee, is an ancient tradition of hands-on-healing which was re-discovered by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1800s. Reiki goes to exactly where it needs. The recipient soon starts to feel a sense of well-being and relaxation and with a course of treatments begins to feel re-energised with a more positive and balanced outlook.

Treatment lasts for about an hour fully-clothed on a chair or couch.

I can treat people individually or can treat a number of people at their place of business with 20-minute individual sessions to help relieve stress.

I also teach two-day courses (Reiki I and Reiki II are taught at two separate weekends at least 3-4 months apart) to enable individuals to channel Reiki to treat yourself and others by being attuned to the Reiki energy. On the course, you will learn how to charge up your chi (energy body) and there is extensive hands-on practical training with ongoing support once you have completed the two-day training.

Neuro-linguistic programming (Healing NLP)...

This involves putting the patient into a trance (but unlike hypnosis the patient stays aware of what is happening to him/her) to help cure phobias, addictions, bad habits. It can involve one to several sessions lasting one-two hours each and through language and engaging all the senses, creates new neural pathways to help form less destructive habits.

I also facilitate time-line therapy which involves removing the trauma attached to past events and planning and visualising how you would like your future to be. This again involves relaxing and putting the patient into trance.

It can also involve practising some of the therapeutic exercises at home to embed the new habits and follow-up sessions.
